PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining device having good unlocking feeling and also securing its strength. SOLUTION: A release means for moving pawls 140 and 150 in a direction in which external teeth 141 and 151 of the pawls 140 and 150 are separated from internal teeth 133 of a ratchet 130, is composed of a release plate 180 disposed at a position in which the release plate is superimposed on the pawls 140 and 150 and guides in the axial direction of a pin 120, rotatably provided on the pin 120, and formed with protruded portions 183 and 184 for the pawls 140 and 150, which are protruded toward the rotation plane of the ratchet 130, and cam grooves 144 and 154 formed in the pawls 140 and 150 so as to be parallel to the rotation plane of the ratchet 130, engaged with the protruded portions 183 and 184 of the release plate 180, set to a shape for moving the pawls 140 and 150 in a direction in which the external teeth 141 and 151 of the pawls 140 and 150 are separated from the internal teeth 133 by the rotation of the release plate 180.
