PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine suppressing more effectively occurrence of knocking by changing the closing timing of an intake valve in the control device for the internal combustion engine changing the closing timing of the intake valve for suppressing occurrence of knocking. SOLUTION: This control device for the internal combustion engine changes the closing timing of the intake valve when occurrence of knocking must be suppressed, and the closing timing of the intake valve after changing is determined by taking pulsation of cylinder pressure into consideration. The closing timing of the intake valve is determined by taking pulsation of cylinder pressure into consideration as the present invention (step 109), thereby, for example, the closing timing of the intake valve after changing can avoid becoming timing increasing cylinder pressure by the influence of pulsation of cylinder pressure in comparison with the closing timing of the intake valve before changing.
