Photo-developable compositions comprise (i) silver halide, at least part of which is AgBr, (ii) Cu 2 I 2 , and (iii) a water soluble (especially alkalimetal) sulphite, bisulphite, metabisulphite or dithionite. The compositions are preferably gelatino silver halide emulsions containing a halogen-acceptor. The silver halide may be prepared in the presence of CNS ions (as described in Specification 1,025,651 and 1,096,053), an organic thioether (as described in Specifications 1,059,782, 1,166,074 and 1,166,075), or Pb ions. |
