PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of irradiating a prescribed range uniformly with a small number of light sources.

SOLUTION: Light from a light emitting element 10, such as an LED, emitting the light is input from an end of an optical waveguide 11. The optical waveguide 11 contains a fluorescent material which emits light with the light made incident from the light emitting element 10. For example, the fluorescent material is a YAG fluorescent material, an ultraviolet-ray stimulated fluorescent material, etc. Light emitted by the fluorescent material irradiated with the light from the light emitting element 10 is projected from a flank of the optical waveguide 11 to irradiate a wide range with uniform brightness.
