PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide for a fluorescence sensor to achieve high sensitivity in a small size by irradiating only a hydrogel side of a fluorescence sensor with excitation light. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide 1 includes: a light introduction part 3 to introduce the light from a light source 2 into a waveguide body 6; a light emitting face 8 to emit the light introduced through the introduction part 3 toward a hydrogel side; a light transmitting face 9 placed parallel and opposing to the light emitting face 8 and transmitting external light entering through the light emitting face 8 to the outside; a light separating part 5 placed in between the light introduction part 3 and the light emitting face 8 and the light transmitting face 9 and reflecting only a total reflection component in the light introduced through the introduction part 3; a scattering reflection part 10 disposed on the light transmitting face 9 and changing the reflection angle on the light transmitting face 9 of the light reflected on the light separating part 5; and a mirror 11 disposed at a position opposing to the light introduction part 3.
