PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which quickly determines the most suitable photographic condition and quickly takes a photograph by using the determined optimum condition. SOLUTION: A CCD 102 photographs a plurality of view finder images while slightly changing a photographic condition. The exposure of the photographic condition is changed little by little to acquire the plurality of view finder images. An image processing part 110 uses a luminance histogram to analyze the plurality of acquired view finder images and determines the most suitable exposure for photographing with the camera. Since view finder images are used to determine the most suitable exposure for photographing, photographing with the camera is quickly executed in the most suitable condition.
