PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific block copolymer containing a polyolefin segment and a functional segment; and to provide a method for producing the block copolymer. SOLUTION: The olefinic block copolymer (A-1) comprises a polyolefin segment obtained by reacting a polyolefin having hydroxy groups at main chain terminals and side chain terminals, or only at the side chain terminals with an organolithium compound or an organophosphorus compound to afford a polyolefin having a lithium or phosphorus-containing group represented by the general formula (I): PO<SP>1</SP>-O-LP at the terminals, and subjecting a (meth)acrylic ester to an anion polymerization in the presence of the polyolefin having the lithium or phosphorus-containing group, and a poly(meth)acrylic ester segment.
