PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3,3,3-trifluoropropionic acid which is useful as an intermediate for medicines and agrochemicals and as a production raw material or a synthetic intermediate for functional materials such as fluorine-containing polymer in an industrial scale. SOLUTION: 1-Halogeno-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is reacted with a cyclic secondary amine to produce a trifluoromethyl group-containing enamine. The trifluoromethyl group-containing enamine is hydrolyzed to afford 3,3,3-trifluoropropionic aldehyde, which is then oxidized with an oxidizing agent to provide the 3,3,3-trifluoropropionic acid.
