PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transporting device capable of smoothly transferring articles with a transferring device, while reducing the number of high-speed driving device to suppress costs. SOLUTION: A main transporting conveyor 1 is provided with the high speed driving device 4 for driving the main transporting conveyor 1 at high speed, a low-speed driving device 5 for driving a transferring conveyor part 1a of the main transporting conveyor 1 at a speed lower than that of the high-speed driving device 4, and a transmitting device 6 to be switched between the high-speed transmitting condition for transmitting power from the high-speed driving device 4 to the transferring conveyor part 1a and for shutting transmission of power from the low-speed driving device 5 to the transferring conveyor part 1a and the low-speed transmitting condition for shutting transmission of power from the high-speed driving device 4 to the transferring conveyor part 1a and for transmitting power from the low-speed driving device 5 to the transferring conveyor part 1a.
