A technique for annotating a document described in a markup language. When a document processing device (100) acquires the document described in the markup language, an annotation detection unit (72) of an annotation unit (70) acquires a file having a position recorded therein to annotate the document, and an annotation display unit (74) annotates the position recorded in the file and displays the annotated position. When an annotation addition unit (76) accepts an instruction to annotate the document from a user, the unit (76) records the position of the annotation in the file.
