<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light amplifier maintaining a fixed gain tilt. <P>SOLUTION: The light amplifier comprises: a light amplification medium which has a first terminal and a second terminal and in which signal light is supplied to the first terminal; a first means for pumping the light amplification medium so that the light amplification medium includes amplification bands including a wavelength of said signal light; a second means which is dynamically connected to the first terminal of the optical amplification medium, for monitoring spectrum characteristics of amplified and natural discharged light propagating inside the light amplification medium oppositely to the signal light; and a third means for controlling a gain of the amplification bands so as to maintain the spectrum characteristics. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
