PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector provided with a trapezoidal distortion correcting means easily making trapezoidal distortion correction when projection is made to a screen on which trapezoidal distortion correction in the vertical direction has been made before. SOLUTION: The projector has: an inclination sensor 40 in the vertical direction for detecting an inclination angle with respect to the perpendicular direction of the projector 10; a storing part 60 for storing a precalculated inclination angle with respect to the perpendicular direction of the screen; and a displaying/inputting part 50 which displays information and is controlled by operation of a belonging operating part 51. An image control part 30 calculates an inclination angle in the vertical direction with respect to the screen 90 of a projection optical axis 24 of a projector 20 from a screen inclination angle selected by the displaying/inputting part 50 and stored in the storing part 60, and an inclination angle of the projector 10 detected by the inclination sensor 40 in the vertical direction, and controls an output image of a displaying part 22 with the calculated inclination angle as a correction angle.
