PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a unit (1) and a method for transferring containers (2) piled and arranged in multiple lines. SOLUTION: In the unit and the method, the containers are transferred through a refusing station (S2), along a horizontal passage (P) piled and arranged in 2 lines (3, 4). On the upper stream of the refusing station, two piled containers are separated, by changing the direction in the vertical direction (D) so that they are transferred, in a form where they are separated and are made to face each other at the next part of the passage. On the down stream of the refusing station, two facing containers are made to contact again so that they are piled and transferred along the next part of the passage near the station.
