PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base stock for shadow masks in which oil on the surface can be easily removed even when rust preventing oil is applied. SOLUTION: This base stock for shadow masks having excellent degreasing property has a texture of≥50% in the (200) face X-ray diffraction strength configuration ratio and a surface where the area ratio of a region on which ruggedness forming the surface of a rolling roll is transferred is≥60%.
