The method involves shifting swivel-shear links (25, 29, 31) by four linear drives to move a seat forward and backward, and to adjust seat height, inclinations of a backrest (16) and seat surface (18) along a distance (s). Seat including the backrest and the seat surface is fixed firmly and parallel to a base frame. Length of the seat surface is adjusted by an additional component provided below the seat surface. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle seat fixed parallel to a base frame.
