The air conditioner has an oblong housing mounted on a roof of a passenger transportation vehicle and extending in a longitudinal direction of the roof. Service parts (20) are provided in an area of a longitudinal side of the housing. The housing has a service opening (22) which forms an inlet to the corresponding part. The opening is lockable or closed by a service cover that is connected with the housing by using a hinge mechanism.
