The implant consists of a wedge (20) fitting between the fifth lumbar vertebra (L5) and the first vertebra (S1) of the sacrum. It has a groove (30) in its upper surface lying in the median plane and made to receive the spinous process (10) of the lumbar vertebra, and a lengthwise recess in its lower surface, orthogonal to the groove and made to receive the upper end (14) of the sacrum, so that the wedge rests directly on the sacrum's upper end. - The lower surface recess is formed between an extension (32) and a lug (34) on opposite faces of the wedge, which is held in place by straps (46, 46') and fastenings (42, 44).
