PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain highly accurate processing at a high speed in the image processing by the stereo method. SOLUTION: Images (1-5) photographed by a camera are respectively given to image input sections 100-1-100-5, stored in a built-in memory and read sequentially to cancel an aberration of the lens of the camera, a difference from a contrast resulting from the characteristic of each camera is corrected and the result is outputted to sum of absolute difference SAD circuits 200-1-200-4. The SAD circuits 200-1-200-4 calculate an absolute value of the difference from pixel values between a reference image 1 outputted from the camera and a reference image outputted from the other two cameras and provide an output. Sum of SAD SSAD circuits 30-1-300-4 provide an output of a result of applying block matching processing to outputs of the SAD circuits. Secondary approximation sections 400-1-400-4 apply secondary approximation to the data outputted from the SSAD circuits and provide an output. Minimum value selection sections 500, 600 and a result memory 700 select a minimum value of data outputted from the secondary approximation sections 400-1-400-4. |
