<p>Donor coat for a transfer sheet (forming part of a manifold) contains besides conventional. Colourant and opacifyer (I), 6-18% on (I) of an emulsifiable polyethylene binder (Ii). (I) is a paper-coating clay, pref. contng. 1-10% bentonite. (II) has an acid no. of 10-40. The thickness of the coated sheet =2 mils. The thickness of the donor coat is 1112-3 lb. per ream (17 1/2" x 22"). A pre-coat pref. underlies the donor coat. A thinner acceptor coat is also used, pref. also contng. polyethylene, weighing 0.3-2 lb. per ream. The base sheet is pref. waterproofed. Donor coating does not rub off; it gives 8-10 good copies; acceptor coat is easy to print on. The coatings are cheap, use easily available materials and are applied in aqueous systems.</p> |
