A buckle comprises two plate elements 15a 18a one element having two openings 16a, 17a joined by a constriction and the other element having a headed stud 20a with a spring 21a and spring grommet 27 surrounding the shank, the stud being inserted in the opening 16a and upon depressing the spring is slid into the opening 17a. One opening may be larger than the other or the spring may comprise a circular band. The head of the stud is bevelled to seat upon a bevelled edge of the opening or the head is stepped the smaller stepped portion being engageable in the smaller opening. A plate, Fig. 3 (not shown), may have a plurality of studs for retaining a plurality of apertured plates or a plate may have a plurality of openings for retaining a plurality of plates with studs. A plate with studs or openings may be combined with an apertured tongue, Fig. 15 (not shown), for securing in a buckle part, and a knurled cross bar for adjustably retaining an end portion of a belt. |
