(A) Phenethylamine cpds. of general formula (I): - R = H or methyl - (B) Acid addition salts of (I) with organic- and inorganic acids are included. The D- and DL-forms of (I) are preferred. - (I) have anorexic activity and may be used as agents to control body weight. - The anorexic activity of (I) does not cause CNS-depression and very little CNS-stimulation. Its activity does not usually cause vomitting and is long-lasting. DL/n.alpha,alpha-trimethyl-beta-ethyl-beta-(p-fl uoro)-phenethylam- ine.
