<p>Chlorohydrocarbons of 2C are prepd. by oxychlorinating the pyrolysis gas from a hydrocarbon material, with HCl and/or Cl2 in the presence of a source of molecular O2, at 350-550 degrees C and an oxychlorination catalyst. The pyrolysis gas comprises diluted gaseous 1-4C hydrocarbons, e.g. a diluted mixture of ethylene, acetylene, methane, 3-4C hydrocarbons, as obtained by pyrolysis of naphtha. Chlorohydrocarbons obtained include vinyl-chloride trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene and 1:2 dichlorethane.</p> |
