A larger vehicle like an articulated lorry for use on long journeys is normally fitted with a stationary berth for the driver. A smaller lorry or van can also be equipped with a transversally positioned sleeping area (10) located partly behind the seats (22) and divided into two parts (12, 13). The front segment (13) can be folded into a vertical position facilitating the use of the area (10) as a storage compartment or positioned on top of the rear segment (12) in order to use the area (10) as a temporary table or a storage area in combination with a vertically positioned front board.
