The device has a handling unit (6) e.g. button, which is mounted on a bar for sliding between a blocked position and an unblocked position. The unit (6) cooperates with a stop integrated with a case and immobilizes rotation of the unit (6) in the blocked position. The unit (6) moves away from the stop, in the unblocked position. An elastic spring unit (8) is inserted between the unit (6) and a flange (9) of the bar. An independent claim is also included for a casement equipped with a casement deadlock mechanism.
