[Also in Division C7] A diamond has an intermediate layer of Mo chemically bonded thereto and an outer metal coating of which at least that part adjacent the intermediate layer is or contains a metal in which Mo is soluble, e.g. iron. Thus a diamond may be coated with Mo coated with Fe or Fe-Ni which is itself coated with Ni, Co, Cu, Sn, Ag, Au, or alloys thereof, the whole being flashcoated with Cu. The coated diamonds are suited for use in abrasive tools, either resin- or metal-bonded or in saw-abrasive tools.</p> |
