The installation is for cultivation of plants (5) which require support during growth and comprises a number of plant holders (4), each of which has an accommodation for plants and displacement devices (7), such as wheels or guides, together with a support construction (8) for movement of the plant holders. The plant supports have components (12) for engaging the plants and which are movable vertically in relation to the plant holders. The vertical position of the parts engaging the plants is dependent upon the position of hte plant supports in relation to the support construction. The plant holders have cultivation gutters. The plant engagement parts do not damage the plants in the act of engagement and disengagement.
