Comp. for sizing and rendering hydrophobic paper, paperboard, fibreboard, textiles, etc. consists of an emulsion of a sizing fatty acid, preferably oleic acid, which is preferably saponified in 2-15%. It can also be partly oxidised by addition of 1-3% of an oxidising agent (accompanied by water glass) or an aluminium salt to suppress foaming). The emulsion is stable and superior to known sizes based on resins. |
