Acid is prepared by reacting aminocaproic acid with diketen in a water-free polar solvent, such as ethyl acetate, in which acetoacetyl-eta-aminocaproic acid is sparingly soluble in the cold. The reaction is carried out at the boiling point of the solvent. The product is isolated afterwards. |
