The proposed method for protecting the system unit of a personal computer against overvoltages of the secondary power-supply unit implies comparing the output voltage with a specified threshold value. For the protection, a device is used that contains a voltage divider in the circuit for the power supply of the hard disk drive, compact disk recorder, and magnetooptical memory unit, a unit for comparing the output voltage with a threshold value, and a switching unit with an input capacitive filter and an output LC filter.
