<p>Hydrogenation, hydroformylation and codimerisation catalyst HxXyMLn (x and y are 0 or 1, n is 1 or 2, X is halogen, nitrate or perchlorate, M is first transition series metal, e.g. Fe, Co or Ni, L is a bidentate ligand i.e. a molecule containing at least two Grp. VA elements, e.g. P or As and capable of co-ordinating with M) is made by reducing a metal compound with hydrazine or a derivative thereof (at least one H being replaced by a 1 - 20 C hydrocarbon radical) in the presence of co-ordinating molecule(s). Bis(1,2-bis (diphenyl-phosphino)-ethane- and -propane)-nickel catalysts are among those specified.</p> |
