<p>One end of a long cylindrical flat-ended fuel element to be inserted endwise into a fuel channel in a reactor has an axial boss at one end to engage with a mating part on the next element to align them axially. Pref. the boss is tapered. It may be a solid blunt cone or may be a hollow cone formed in the end plate of the element. The self-centering device may otherwise be a conically bent-up edge round the end plate.</p> |
