A conveyor comprises a conveyor track 56 with opposed side walls 60 and a top wall 62 with a slot in the top wall, and a conveyor chain 50 which comprises a plurality of substantially identical carriages 52. Each carriage comprises an elongate body 74 extending between first and second ends, a first wheel 84 supported on and adjacent to the first end of the body by a self-lubricating bearing for rotation about a first axis, a second wheel 100 supported on the body between the first and second ends by a self-lubricating bearing for rotation about a second axis perpendicular to the first axis, and means connecting the first end of each carriage to the second end of the next adjacent carriage in the chain. The connecting means comprises apertures 76 formed in the first and second ends of each carriage and pins 80 received in the apertures pivotally connecting the carriages, the apertures and pins being self-lubricating. |
