摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a flaw detecting accuracy of an ultrasonic flaw detecting apparatus. SOLUTION: A first tire probe 13 is disposed at a width direction one side part of a steel strip 33. An incidence angle setting ultrasonic wave generated from the probe 13 is incident to the strip 33. Its reflected wave from the width direction other side face of the strip 33 is received. An incidence angle of the incidence angle setting ultrasonic wave is changed to obtain an optimum incidence angle so that an intensity of the reflected wave from the other side face becomes maximum. The incident angle of a flaw detecting ultrasonic wave of a second tire probe 14 is controlled to become the previously obtained optimum incidence angle. Since it is controlled so that the incidence angle of the defect detecting wave becomes the optimum incidence angle, an ultrasonic flaw detecting accuracy is improved.
