An hydraulic centering and work-driving tool comprises a body 10 having a centre member 30 and two, three, four or five driving dogs 18, the inner ends of the bores 16 and 32 are connected and for an hydraulic reservoir, the dogs and member 30 are slidably retained by a plate 44 engaging in a groove whereby the carriers of the plate engage in flats 24 or 25 of the dogs and an aperture in the plate engages member 30. If the plate is rotated 45 degrees the dogs are free to be inclined through 180 degrees or removed. A lock screw 46 retains the plate in a given position but has a flat 49 to permit rotation of the plate. The dogs and member 30 have sealing rings comprising O-rings 20 and 56 respectively and wiper rings 21 and 57 respectively. A spring 66 biases member 30 outwardly and drive is transmitted from a spindle 12 by a pin 14. The ends of the driving dogs are chisel shaped as can be seen in Figure 2. |
