<p>Method of straightening hollow glass articles esp. TV picture tubes, by heating to a temp. above the relaxation temp. and then rapidly cooling the inside with a blast of air for a controlled period while slowly cooling the outside of the tube. The air is pref. blown in for about 1 minute, to cool the inside below the annealing temp. while the outside cools naturally. After 6 minutes the outside and inside temps. are again equal but below the relaxation temp.</p> |
