<p>A recyclable electric junction box comprises means to detect and store in a memory parameters representing the working conditions of its components. The box comprises a casing housing components such as printed circuit boards with conducting tracks that connect electric components. Parameters detected may include temperature, current, voltage, vibration, and the number of operations carried out, of the components and tracks. An electronic system such as a microprocessor may perform calculations, on the parameters stored in the memory, which may comprise an estimate of the useful life of the box and store the result in the memory. The memory may store further data recorded at its origin, such as its: year of manufacture; manufacturer; weight; hazardous material content; recyclable content; reusable components and precautions to be taken when disassembling. The box memory may be connected to a computer by a communications link which may calculate the remaining useful life of the box and inform a user of suitable treatment and any possible recycling operations. The box is applicable to an automotive vehicle.</p> |
