The invention relates to a method for the hydrocyanation of unsaturated compounds into unsaturated mononitrile compounds or into dinitriles. More specifically, the invention relates to a method of producing dinitriles, involving the double hydrocyanation of diolefins such as butadiene and comprising the recovery and separation of the catalytic system. The inventive method of producing dinitriles involving hydrocyanation of unsaturated compounds comprises at least one hydrocyanation step in the presence of a catalytic system containing an organometallic complex which is formed by one or more monodentate organophosphite ligands and one or more bidentate organophosphorous ligands and, optionally, a Lewis acid-type promoter. The invention also comprises at least one distillation separation step involving distillation of a reagent used in the method or a compound formed by the reaction from a medium containing the aforementioned catalytic system.
