<p>1,219,534. Cutting machines. CINCINNATI MILLING MACHINE CO. 16 April, 1969 [6 May, 1968], No. 19516/69. Heading B4B. A machine for cutting, e.g. fabrics supported substantially horizontally comprises a reciprocable blade 16 having vertical and lower transverse cutting edges 17, 20, and non-reciprocating guide means 28 co-operating with the rear edge 21 of the blade 16 during operation, means being provided for withdrawing the blade 16, and guide means 28, from the material 14 to be cut, and further means being provided to rotate the blade 16 and guide means 28 to change the orientation of the leading edge 17 of the blade 16 when they are so withdrawn. The blade 16 may be reciprocated by a crank (not shown) driven by a motor 19, and the blade and motor together with the U-section guide 28, are supported on a plate 22, vertically adjustable on a vertically fixed frame 23-25 by means of a cable 44 to allow withdrawal from the material. A stabilizing rod 34 is attached to the guide 28, extending downwardly through a bushing 35 in a rotatable support structure 36-38, an upper member 43 thereof having a slot 40, Fig. 3 (not shown), to receive the members 16, 28 during cutting. For rotation, the cutter/guide support frame is pivoted on a shaft 27<SP>1</SP>, the structure 36-38, 43 being arranged to rotate in synchronism. Compressed air may be introduced through a hose 48 for cooling/particle removable in accordance with Specification 1,219,115.</p> |
