System and method of steering assistance for steerable wheels of a motor vehicle

The system has steering assistance module (8) acting on a steering rack (5) and tie rods (6, 7). A determination device (21) determines and delivers data, representing grip of steering wheels (1, 2), to an assistance increasing module (17). The module (17) increases the steering assistance for the wheels when a value of the data is less than a characteristic threshold value of a grip limit of the wheels. An independent claim is also included for a steering assistance method for steering wheels of a motor vehicle.
