The apparatus has an inclination device for lateral inclination of a baggage cart (6), and a wall (7) attached to the inclination device for supporting the cart. A lifting drive (2) is provided for gradual lifting of the inclined cart in relation to the wall, such that the baggage pieces slide on a conveying device (4) over the wall upper edge. A lifting carriage lifts the inclined cart for unloading relative to the wall.
