A method of sealing a generator stator bar (16) and a stator bar end fitting (18, 20) receiving the end including the steps of brazing the fitting (18, 20) to the end of the stator bar (16) with a braze material (38); applying a powder coating materi al to the end of the stator bar (16) in the fitting (18, 20); and curing the powder coating material to form a barrier coating (52) on the end of the stator bar (16) an d the adjoining interior surfaces of the fitting (18, 20).
