There is provided a liquid crystal display device capable of reducing the device size, reducing the cost, reducing the device thickness, downsizing the device, and improving reliability. When a variable resistor is used to set a DC potential of the VCOM potential, it is impossible to reduce the size of the liquid crystal display device because the variable resistor is large. As means for setting (adjusting) the DC potential of the VCOM potential (opposing electrode voltage), a DA converter (20) is used instead of the conventional variable resistor. The DA converter (20) is formed on the same glass substrate (11) as a display area section (12) by using the same process, thereby reducing the size of the liquid crystal display device.
