The machine has a separation unit (200) including two rows of rotating units (210, 210a) to unpack contents of packages and to open their sides so as to allow withdrawal of contents in the separation unit. A gear motor (230) is engaged with an electric motor fixed on a frame, to drive the rotating units. The rows are constituted of flanges between which the rotating units are mounted. An independent claim is also included for a method for separating flexible packages from their contents.
