The system has a steering unit (3) presented under the form of a threaded rod. The unit (3) and a crankshaft (5) provided with a stepper motor (4), are connected by a carriage (2) that is mounted between stops (61, 62). The stops limit movement of the carriage so that movement of a flywheel (V) is stopped when the carriage abuts against one of the stops. A torque reduction system permits to reduce efforts exerted on the stops. The stops and/or part of the carriage are partially covered by rubber. An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle including a steering columnless type steering system.
