An electric cable assembly comprises terminals 22 electrically connected to the bare ends of a cable formed of a plurality of multistrand conductor ropes, 10-16, each rope being covered except at its end parts with a flexible sleeve, each terminal having a rigid skirt portion 25 overlapping the sleeves, and a further flaredout skirt portion 26. The terminal and its skirts are formed from an initially cylindrical silverplated copper tube, part of which is tightly compressed to rectangular form in compression dies to form the lug and part only lightly compressed to form the skirts. The lug is drilled. The conductor rope sleeves are made of an elastomeric plastic such as soft synthetic rubber, and the conductors are of copper. |
