[Also in Division B2] A textile-like material is made by impregnating and/or coating a support sheet with a molten plasticized mixture of (i) an aromatic hydrocarbon polymer and (ii) low molecular weight polyethylene or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and pressing thereon a layer of tissue paper (e.g. creped). The support is a porous fibrous material, e.g. creped tissue paper or non-woven fabric, or a continuous or perforated polyethylene, polypropylene or polyester film. Tissue paper may be applied to one or both faces of the support by pressure rollers at room temperature. The aromatic hydrocarbon polymer may be aromatic petroleum resin, alkyl aromatic hydrocarbon resin, polstyrene or a styrene copolymer. |
