In a change-speed gear, synchronized engagement of internal splines 13a on a sliding clutch sleeve 13 with alternative teeth 26, 8b on a pinion 2 and a collar 8 fast with a pinion 3, respectively, is effected by synchronizing friction rings 7, 9 rotatively fast with a hub 6 fast with the driving shaft 1, and each having a conical friction surface 7a, 9a urged axially into engagement with corresponding surfaces on the pinion 2 and collar 8 by balls 15 urged radially outwards by centrifugal force and springs 16, against inclined surfaces 10a on lugs 10 on the rings engaging, with play in slots (11), Fig. 2 (not shown), in the clutch hub 6 for rotation therewith. The rings 7, 9 each carry lugs 12 blocking axial movement of sleeve 13 until synchronism. One lug 12 on each ring is chamfered (12a) in the direction facing the sleeve 13. |
