A device for monitoring a space around a mobile body includes: environment information detection means (SR) for detecting and accumulating environment information around the mobile body according to output image information from specified imaging means (C1); mobile body information detection means (MB) for successively detecting and accumulating the position and posture of the mobile body; information combining means (CB) for combining these information and correcting and outputting the relative position of the mobile body with respect to the surrounding environment and relationship with its posture; and obstacle detection means (OD) for detecting an obstacle according to the output information. According to the detected information, the positional relationship between the mobile body and the obstacle is judged. According to the positional relationship, the output image information from the specified imaging means (C1) or the second imaging means (C2) is selected by display control means (VC) and displayed by display means (VD).
