A glass or similar substrate has on its top surface two separate contact areas of superconductive material in the form of a thin film, the gap between them being waisted at its narrowest point to a width of between 10 and 100 mu. Joining them is a narrow strip of ohmically conductive metal i.e. copper gold or perm alloy whose width is a maximum of 5 mu and pref. 1 mu. The plate is first coated with collodion, a transverse line scribed to the correct width and a flashing of ohmic metal vacuum deposited to a thickness of 350 angstroms approx. The collodoim is then washed off and the super conductor areas vacuum deposited to a thickness of approx 1000 angstroms and finally accurately trimmed to the above limiting dimension.
|
