Electrical insulation compounds are disclosed, the insulation compounds including an ethylene alpha-olefin diene elastomeric polymer, an ethylene alpha-olefin polymer having a Melt Index Ratio I₁₀/I₂ of at least 5, and 20 phr of filler or less per 100 parts of polymer. Also disclosed are electrical devices including an electrically insulating portion, wherein the insulating portion is an extruded compound having low surface roughness at typical operating extrusion rates.
